The Rotary Gardens at Cowichan Hospice House
A five Rotary Club Project of the Cowichan Valley Rotary Clubs

In 2020 the Cowichan Valley will have its long awaited Hospice facility.  It will accommodate 10 rooms, of which 7 will be operational at the opening next year.

To make this Hospice House all that it can be for clients and their families a beautiful garden has been designed to offer something for all family members, including a magical garden for children. Rotary was approached by the Hospice Society to take on the fundraising and building of the garden.  As Rotarians we are so excited to be able to make such a significant contribution to our communities.

The participating Cowichan Valley clubs, all from communities which will be served by this Hospice House, are:

  • Rotary Club of Ladysmith
  • Rotary Club of Chemainus
  • Rotary Club of Duncan Daybreak
  • Rotary Club of Duncan (noon)
  • Rotary Club of South Cowichan

To meet this commitment of $325,000 we have Rotarians working on fund raising events (like our recent Red Neck Barn Dance), grant writing and communication.  This is the biggest project Rotary has undertaken in the Valley and we need support from all members of our communities to make this a reality.

Through our registered charity, the South Cowichan Rotary Club Foundation, we are now asking for your donations for the Garden. All donations, large and small, will make this beautiful Rotary Garden a reality.  Donations of $20 or more will receive a Charitable Donation receipt, if you donate $250 or more you will become a Friend of Rotary.

What is a Friend of Rotary?

Friends of Rotary are individuals or businesses who embrace the Rotary ideal of “Service Above Self”, but for one reason or another are not able to make the commitment to be a regular member of Rotary. As a Friend of Rotary you will receive a subscription to the Rotary Magazine, and become affiliated with one of our Clubs.  Through that affiliation you will be invited to social and fund raising activities and are always welcome to attend Club Meetings, with no obligation for regular attendance.  You will receive regular communications from your Club and have a name badge, which will introduce you at all activities.  So, all the fun and none of the work – but of course you will always have the choice of participating in work projects, working together is at least as much fun as playing together.
